ABOUT

Are you looking for a place to take your dogs for some exercise and socialization? The only county-owned site in Chesterfield County is the Ruff House Dog Park located in Rockwood Park. The park offers two kennels with benches, water and close parking for you and your dog to enjoy. The Ruff House Dog Park is a partnership between The Friends of Ruff House and Chesterfield County Parks and Rec.

The Friends of Ruff House Dog Park is self funded. We receive no money from the county. The money we raise from donations and fund raising events goes toward improving and maintaining the park. The poop bags we supply for free, cost the organization about $2,000 per year. We also make improvements to the park. When we took over there were no benches, no shade, no trash cans, nothing. All this was done with volunteer hours and monetary donations.

The Friends of Ruff House Dog Park is a completely volunteer organization. We are constantly looking for new volunteers to help out.

Never been to a dog park before? Please familiarize yourself with the rules. Also read the etiquette page for information beyond the rules, so you know what to expect.

This website was designed and built in memory of our original park mascot. My loving sweet Csonka came to the park regularly for more than 10 years. He loved the people, he enforced park rules, and most of all, he was the tug-o-war champion of the park.
